Values and Principles behind Equilus
People First
We create welcoming and supportive experiences where every participant is treated with care, dignity and respect.
Everyone Belongs
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to participate, connect with others and experience the benefits of being around horses.
Horses at the Heart
The wellbeing of our horses is a priority. We carefully consider their physical and mental health to ensure they are happy, healthy and suited to their role.
Growing Together
We encourage participants to build confidence, develop skills and celebrate their achievements, with opportunities for continued growth and challenge.
Our Story
A Community Built Around Horses
Equilus continues a long-standing South Australian tradition of creating opportunities for people with disability to experience the benefits of horse-related activities.
Riding for the Disabled was first incorporated in South Australia in 1972. Today, RDA SA operates across nine metro, regional, rural and remote sites, with centres supported by dedicated volunteers and a passionate State Office team.
Through riding, driving and ground-based activities, participants can enjoy recreation, social connection, challenge and a sense of achievement, while developing skills and confidence along the way.
